She was in a story the name of which I can't remember, in a volume whose title I don't recall. This is all very helpful, obviously.

Anyway, the story was about G.K. (presumably; it's in the first person) meeting a young man in a hotel, or tavern or some such, and hearing that man's amazing story, in which the world went mad and all things were discovered. It ended up being a wonderful allegory of birth and family and nature, but the part that stuck out for me was when the young man stumbled across his first Lady, who was, like him, just a child at the time. She had black hair, and deep blue eyes, and came stealing out of a hedgerow as he was fleeing from some terror.

They chat briefly and awkwardly, and it comes about that may think the boy to be mad.

"I think I like them mad," she says in reply.

You'd have to be there to feel it. I'd never seen such a vivid image in my mind moved solely by literature before that, and I doubt I ever will again.Nick Milnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15677481833245634421noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11415684.post-1149263527185695472006-06-02T11:52:00.000-04:002006-06-02T11:52:00.000-04:00Keeping with the romantic stuff, is the following ...Keeping with the romantic stuff, is the following quote from GKC? They were all based on her.
