Free Prize Inside!
Trading cards for smokers: In 1937, a pack of Wills's Cigarettes came with a card from the "Famous British Authors" series.
Clicking on the image takes you to the source. I probably should have mentioned it in the post: it is from Nostalgia's Attic. They sell old collectible tidbits.
If you search "cigarette cards" on eBay today there are over 2000 listings.

There's something slightly creepy about this picture, and I can't put my finger on what it is.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's the pince-nez that cuts off his left eye. Or maybe it's because Chesterton is one ugly dude.
