New Gilbert is Here

The newest edition of Gilbert Magazine arrived yesterday. It's a good one. I haven't read it all yet, but a quick overview:

Sean Dailey informs readers of many Chesterton-themed initiatives at the high school level and Hereditas magazine, for which our Alan Capasso works.

Dale Ahlquist has a splended essay about "The Third Man," Maurice Baring, a guy who has always intrigued me.

Our Kyro has an analysis of relativism. His take? Best seen in this line, I think: "The elitists of [the dictatorship of relativism] have labelled dissent from [relativism] as a medical condition."

Mike Foster takes Smith of Wootton Major off the shelf. It's the one Tolkien book I haven't read.

And best of all: It's the movie review issue. Six movies--some old, some new, some in-between--get G's thumb up. I'd list them here, but that might ruin the surprise.

Tanks fer da plug, Eric! :-D

Since you didn't list the movies, I won't either. But you may, if you wish, post an image the cover, which I think is some of the best work Ted (our art director) has ever done.

I think you can cut and paste the cover from the ACS blog.

I also am especially happy with the editorial in this issue.

Ok, You got your magazine on Tuesday of this week. It is now FRIDAY and my Gilbert stil hasn't arrived. I'd love to see those movie reviews, I'd love to see the editorial, but alas I will have to wait at least one more day. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow I'm going to have to wait until next Tuesday... Sigh, it must be we live further away from Gilbert's post office than you do. This is what I get for living in a largely Chesterton free zone. Even Nancy mentioning it on the blog didn't locate any Vermont Chestertonians... Double Sigh...

Exactly, I notice people talking about the magazine on the internet for about a week before I get mine.......

Glad to see I'm not the only one waiting.

Guess I'm waiting until Tuesday... Meanwhile by way of compensation I'm reading Alan Jacobs book The Narnian. It's a new book about C.S. Lewis and it actually has information in it that I hadn't run across in any of the other books about Lewis I've read. So I guess I can wait for Gilbert...

I've noticed over the years that delivery of GM has always been erratic. Sorry!
